The Green Place on the 2019 Wasteland Weekend map

On-Site

The Green Place is located on the eastern edge of the Theme Zone, just outside the city, with our backs to the open desert. Just head all the way east on Fury Road (the road that passes right in front of the city wall), or all the way south on Fallout Path (the last road running the length of the event space on the east end) and you’ll be right in the middle of our beautiful ward!

Social

Online, you can find our community in a few places. We have a Facebook page for the Ward that you can like and share, as well as a Facebook group that Green Place residents and interested people can join in order to ask questions, share progress on projects or interesting things they've found, and keep up to date on Green Place news. Lastly, we have a Discord server where Green Place campers and hopeful future Green Place campers can chat and get to know each other. For the Discord invite link, please either join our Facebook group or get in touch with either of the wardens.

Lastly, you can contact us with any questions, comments, or just to talk to us, via our contact form.

Shops

We have two online shops where you can get cool Green Place merch to show off all year round. All proceeds from these shops will go straight to helping us build new infrastructure for the Ward.

Our Threadless shop features a few Green Place designs available for print on a wide range of items, from clothing to home items, to accessories. UPDATE: we have taken down the threadless store due to concerns about product quality, and will be announcing a Redbubble store soon!

Our Etsy shop features some items hand-made by the wardens, including vinyl decals and pinback buttons.

Donda on their bike

Donda

Wasteland name: Dead
Tribe: Clan of the Boltcutters
Pronouns: she/they

Donda first started attending Wasteland Weekend in 2016, as one of the founding members of the Clan of the Boltcutters, and since then basically spends their entire year planning, building, and crafting for Wasteland. They love helping to create something bigger than themself. The community at Wasteland Weekend, and especially that which has developed in the Green Place, is Donda's primary reason for coming back every year, though a bit of escapism into a world of our own creation never hurts either.

Donda's advice to any first timers to make the most of your Wasteland experience is to explore! Visit camps, say hi to strangers (or give them the finger!), participate in events, missions or shenanigans! Many of Donda's best memories at the event were born of throwing themself out there and interacting, even if it was a little scary at first.

Kodiak (Kody)

Wasteland name: Koyote
Tribe: Valley of Fire Ferals
Pronouns: he/him or they/them

Since first attending Wasteland Weekend in 2016 with the Clan of the Boltcutters, Kodiak has called the event home. Between the lasting friendships forged, to the mind blowing creative inspiration, and even to the feeling of freedom living beneath infinite stars in the open desert, he keeps coming back for more.

After camping solo for a couple years, and being a part of the initiates zone in 2019, he founded The Valley of Fire Ferals in 2020, their tribe debut to be 2021.

Participating in the Thunderdome, attending the Slag Races, and rocking out to performances by AHTCK are just a few of his favorite Wasteland activities, but his favorite of all is having a beverage by the campfire with tribemates and new friends.

Kodiak's advice to any first timers is to be sure to pack plenty of water, at least a gallon per day just for drinking. In the weeks leading up to the event he recommends also drinking a lot of water as well. Camping in Mojave desert is not to be taken lightly, and while it may seem frightening, there are plenty of people including The Green Place Wardens to help you prepare for your first Wasteland Weekend experience!
